An Expedition unto Epsilon Black 9

Not long past, there was discover’d by certain adventurers two places of strange radiance, one lying nigh unto Tal’En Dae, and the other within Black Lake, the hidden goblin-city deep in the forest. The cause thereof was at first unknown, and much wonder did it stir.

In time, it was learn’d that this ill-light did spring from the failure of a device within the northern laboratory call’d Epsilon Black 9, whereupon a company, drawn from Durakiss, Sambrune, Lomidar, and Elysium, set forth to mend the broken machine and restore order.

Yet the place was infest’d with foul crawling creatures, and in the tumult of battle, Illiana of Sambrune was separated from her fellows and taken. In their desperate pursuit, her companions did endure grievous trials, even finding a bloodied token that brought them near unto despair. Still, they press’d on and at last reach’d the creatures’ nest.

Therein they recover’d Illiana, though she was stricken by a dark infection, and as they bore her away, they were assail’d by many foes. By strength and unity they overcame these perils and escaped.

Returning to their charge, they found the machine beyond saving, for its power had grown too great.At last, it unleash’d a violent surge of energy, which did strike and devastate Black Lake.

By strange fortune, the company made their escape through a portal into the Dark Matter Dimension, and it was later known that the same blast had laid waste to the creatures’ nest.

Thus endeth the tale: a deed of courage marred by loss, and a victory that came not without grievous cost.
