Arcus Initialis – Echoes Before Life

Long before memory, before the first breath of life ever touched the continent of Arche Terre, something else arrived.

From beyond the known skies, a highly advanced civilization descended upon Terra Prime. They left no living descendants, no written history that modern scholars can understand—only ruins, silent and immense, and the towering enigma now known as the Arche Tower.

The First Visitors

Today, only fragments remain to hint at what these beings were. Across scattered ruins, faint mural depictions show tall figures with elongated limbs, pointed ears, and heavy, claw-like toes, adorned with strange ornaments hanging from their nostrils. Whether these were ceremonial or biological cannot be known—but their image is unmistakably alien.

No culture alive today truly understands them.

And yet… no visitor to Arche Terre can ignore their presence.

The Tower and Its Network

At the center of it all stands the Arche Tower—a colossal structure reaching skyward like a spear aimed at the cosmos. Around it, smaller towers dot the landscape, arranged with deliberate precision.

They are not decorative.

They hum.

They resonate.

Scholars believe these lesser towers are part of a vast system—either channeling energy into the central spire, or receiving something from it. At night, a beam of light pierces the heavens, vanishing into the endless firmament, as if communicating with something impossibly distant… or sustaining something unseen.

It is not simply architecture.

It is infrastructure.

Powerful. Ancient. Active—perhaps even now.

The Forgotten Story

There are no historical records of this era. No books, no oral traditions. Only archaeology—and imagination—allow glimpses into what once occurred.

Recent excavations uncovered fragmentary murals, and from these broken images, a story begins to emerge.

One wall, worn and partially erased by time, depicts a circular design divided into four quadrants. Each quadrant holds a different vision of the same land—centered always around the Tower:

  • One shows a barren, lifeless world, empty and silent.
  • Another reveals a thriving land of forests, rivers, and beasts.
  • A third portrays civilized beings, suggesting the emergence of intelligent life.
  • The final quadrant is the most haunting: a blazing sun dominating the sky, its rays descending violently to scour the surface below.

Transformation.

Creation.

Or destruction.

Perhaps all three.

The Broken Artifact

Another discovery deepened the mystery.

A second wall, covered in unknown cuneiform-like runes, resists every attempt at translation. Even the most brilliant minds of the Consortium have failed to decipher their meaning.

But among the symbols, one image appears… clear enough to disturb.

It depicts the same circular artifact seen before—
but shattered into four pieces.

This finding has triggered a surge of activity across Arche Terre. Consortium agents have tightened security at sites like Antebellum, while expeditions spread far and wide.

Whatever this artifact represents…

It is no longer whole.

Echoes in the Present

Though the past remains a puzzle, its influence lingers.

Strange energies still pulse beneath the earth. Relics tied to this ancient system—such as stabilizers, corrupted materials like Purple Goo, and fragments of forgotten machinery—can be recovered from places like:

  • The Haunted Catacombs
  • Under Black Lake
  • The Goo Ork Caves

These pieces, seemingly insignificant on their own, may be remnants of something far grander. Something broken… and perhaps, waiting to be restored.

A Sleeping Truth

In Arche Terre, nothing is truly dead.

The Tower still stands.
The beam still rises.
The runes still whisper—unread, yet undeniable.

They came.
They built.
They left.

But the question that haunts every scholar, every explorer, every dreamer who stands beneath that impossible tower is this:

Did they leave… or are we simply too late to understand what they began?
